Rigidcore Transportation Applications

The transportation industry, and in particular the trucking segment, has been using sandwich composite structures in trailer wall and bulkhead systems for years. Great progress has been made lowering the weight of trailers which enables additional cargo to be transported while staying below highway weight limitations. Of course, this lowers fuel costs and increases transportation load efficiency. The use of Rigidcore as a sandwich composite core material holds the potential for further lowering weight due to its tetrahedral-octahedral honeycomb structure, while also providing an ideal core structure to receive and secure fastening systems. The linear lattice structure also disburses impact more readily than some alternative honeycomb systems in applications like bulkheads where ballistic forces may be an issue.
